2018 is a year of reinvention. I am taking my research on lateral violence and bullying in the workplace and combining it with my nursing and educator experience to new heights. There is a significant gap in the workplace for nurses who are promoted into positions of authority. They often learn how to schedule, budget, and work with HR to staff their unit; but there is not enough time focused on building relationships and managing conflict. With a significant number of bosses being identified as the workplace bully, and staggering nurses going off on stress and sick leave, it is time we do something collaboratively to shift the focus back onto safe spaces.
